"Why Should My Church Do a VBS?"

  1. CHURCH MEMBER INVOLVEMENT

Vacation Bible School gives every member of your church an opportunity to share the gospel by using their gifts. Churches have received the Great Commission from Jesus and VBS is a chance for each member to evangelize. Vacation Bible School requires every member’s contribution for success. That means everything a member might do for VBS – teach, sing, serve, act, play, coach, clean, pray, guide, create, cut, lead, draw, prepare snacks, glue, operate sound equipment, direct traffic, take attendance – is ALL labor for the Kingdom of God. VBS gives every church member an opportunity for Kingdom impact, no matter what the task might be.

  1. EFFECTIVE GOSPEL PRESENTATIONS

Vacation Bible School gives kids an opportunity to come to know Jesus through an immersive experience. The VBS theme sets the stage for how children will come to learn about God. The decorations, costumes, characters, songs, snacks, crafts and games all carry the same theme and children will find it easy to jump in to the experience with both feet. Kids, who may never sit still for a Sunday School lesson, may find it easier to pay attention to the gospel presentation when immersed in a creative presentation of the gospel.

  1. POWERFUL COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Vacation Bible School enlarges a church’s community outreach. Many parents in your community search the VBS ads long before school ends. While some guardians may not believe in God, many do understand the value of sending their children to safe places during the summer. Some parents even use a local VBS as temporary child care! That’s okay for a mission-minded church! Children engaged in a weeklong immersive Bible experience will make lifelong friends and the church will have an open door to continue ministering to families in the neighborhood.

Vacation Bible School provides a tremendous opportunity for your church to grow in unity, faith, outreach and in number. If you are not sure where to begin for your next VBS, let Bogard Press help! Check our website for all the VBS resources you will need for a successful VBS.
