God’s Faithfulness
“By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me,” Psalm 41:11
Many years ago I took a Baptist History seminary class. I knew of the rich history of the Lord’s churches, but I learned so much more deeply just how faithful God had been over the years. “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). So much evil has come against the Lord’s churches, attempting to wipe them out altogether. This wickedness comes at the cost of many precious lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ. But we have a mighty God, and He is faithful to His Word. The gates of hell have not prevailed, and His church is alive and well today.
The enemies of the Lord’s faithful will always endeavor to see them fail. David was fleeing for his life before he was king and continued to fight against those who hated him throughout his reign as king of Israel. Those evil schemers were after him continually, and yet, God was merciful to David. He delivered him time and again and was faithful to His promises. As a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will have enemies come against you. No doubt, you have seen enemies to the Lord’s churches rise up from within and without the churches. The devil will always stir up enemies to the cross of Christ and His people. Do not be dismayed. Cry out to the Lord as David did. Study God’s Word and go through the promises God has given to us as His individual children, as well as His churches. He is always faithful to His Word now and forevermore.
REFLECTION
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” (Hebrews 10:23).
